Lisa's death was not the sudden out-of-nowhere shock of a murder. It was preceeded by months of constant attention to her needs that completely occupied his time and drained his resources. The Ianto in Cyberwoman has exhausted everything he has except for hope. Lisa's execution only exacerbates that.
