John Barrowman Will Not Be At SDCC

X-posted from my regular LJ

For the record, the webmeister at johnbarrowman.net is a lovely, polite and responsible chap. In other words, I got a reply to my email of the other day asking about the schedule conflict that's apparent on the SDCC website, versus johnbarrowman.net.

John Barrowman will not be at SDCC.

Unsurprisingly, the webmeister said that if there's a conflict between Barrowman's site and anything else, go by what Barrowman's site says. Said webmeister also cheerfully encouraged my writing a tart email to SDCC about same.

I resisted the temptation to go completely bonkers on said SDCC staff but, yes, a tart email has been issued.

Thank god I didn't book plane tickets. So I'm out $25 for the one-day badge, no biggie. If circumstances were different, I'd cheerfully go, regardless - as the rest of the panel is a jolly good draw, too - but circumstances being what they are (as those of you on the F-List of my regular journal know), it's not enough.

Here's hoping something fab happens for Gallifrey. That would suit me down to the ground. :)

Are you going to post this to the comms?

You mean it hasn't been posted, already?

Then yeah, I'll go do it.

I think you're the one with the first 'ear to the ground' luv. :)

Actually, thank Kevin & Andy for it - they found the official confirmation of non-appearance over on the G1 forums whilst I was out. The email from the webmeister was a bit of icing on the cake, really.

Someone just posted a link to the SDCC schedule on the Silicon Gulch Browncoats list; as of this writing, JB is still listed on the panel. I'm not pointing the Browncoats to this post, but I'm definitely sharing the information. And encouraging further tart letters.

*nod*

As [livejournal.com profile] laragoth and various others have pointed out, it's no-doubt a matter of simple stupidity over at SDCC - someone handed off programming information that was six months old to post on the website, or something, which doesn't excuse the fubar, but it does, at least, explain it...

This doesn't appear to be the only scheduling goof they've made, either. I've worked cons long enough to know that there will ultimately be things scheduled opposite one another that will have a similar target audience, but it seems to me they could have avoided a 15-minute overlap between Summer Glau's panel and Joss Whedon's.

Gonna be an interesting weekend, methinks....
