oops? I suppose that's the down side to making your readers think things through. You didn't *have* to tell me that this was your surprise. OTOH, it sounds like you're not sure whether you're going to do it, and also how it's going to happen...

I suppose the degree of embarassment would depend on how it played out. Maybe if the *whole* team wasn't there? I mean, I can't see Owen *not* being obnoxious about it. On the other hand, everyone else trying to be sensitive but simultaneously being appalled and/or clueless would likely be a different kind of awkward (possibly worse, I suppose-- Owen being an ass is predictable).
