Personally I thought you were incorrect but it had been ages since I saw references to the shooting schedule. You didn't seem wrong enough to bother tracking down the info online to prove it (plus I wasn't entirely sure). The combined shooting of the first two episodes was probably what lead to the weaknesses in the "I want sex" alien episode. Your worry must be that it will go downhill from here (oh no, Ianto grimaces again!), but character development pieces depend on the acting abilities of the cast.
