One last word on Time Lord's and gender and sexuality.
I forget who wrote it, but someone out there on the internet said something along the lines of the following:
Aren't we rather making assumptions? For all we know, he (The Doctor) is laying eggs in his TARDIS.
The notion of an egg-laying Time Lord will make me giggle until the day I die.

THEY WILL BE THERE UNTIL YOU DRAW THEM OUT. YOU KNOW IT.

Me, I always cheerfully take the view that - unless canonically proven otherwise - Aliens Do It Very (and Terrifyingly) Differently. Course, that does nothing for the het or slash... {eg}

I won't tell you what wandered into my head - no doubt as an almost-direct consequence of the discussions of the day, but it took me a wee bit by surprise, I'll admit that much.
(although I'm sure it's been done to death by the slashers)

Years ago, I read The Left Hand of Darkness (Ursula K. LeGuin). About a year ago, a philosophy prof mentioned it to me and I had to go buy a copy and re-read it...now with a much different perspective.
Have you read it? (I don't want to bore or spoil either way)
Because it strikes me that for Time Lords, perhaps - like the people on Winter - gender isn't necessarily fixed for life, especially when you're talking about multiple regenerations. Unlike the Winter planet inhabitants, maybe Time Lords can and DO choose?
I love your writing, and love this idea! May I vote for the Lucy as Master for Gallifrey '09?

Aww, flattery will get you everywhere.
And. Um.

Update...
Yeah, I think it's going to happen for Gally '09. I'm in talks with someone to borrow a wig. I've answered the 'trousers or skirt' question, and I've ditched the idea of making a coat (too expensive!) so I think something will be walking the halls.
No-one but the readers of this journal are going to get the joke but what the hell... ;)

I can't wait to see this creation. It must be kind of liberating, to not have to adhere to specifications of what the costume "has" to look like - only the concept in your head...
Come to think of it, though, that might be more challenging! Well, either way - the moment of truth happens in just a few months. I'm going for the first time. Yeah, I'm thrilled. : ]
