Whaddya mean series 4 of Doctor Who kicks off in less than a month? Blimey!

(Yes, this is going to give the no-DLing resolution a serious test. 'Scuse me while I go whimper for a minute.)

It's going to overlap with Torchwood, ain't it? At least for us US-based folks, it is.

Oh lawks. I think that's too much Whovian goodness for even this fangrrl to absorb at any given time.

And I've got a big pile of audios still awaiting my attention.

*grin/sigh* It's official. I'll never get caught up. Or even vaguely close.

Meanwhile, the purveyors of my sweet, sweet monthly fix might not be writing BF a thank-you note any time soon, as I'm seriously contemplating ditching my CD-and-magazine subscription in favor of DLing directly from BF, now that it's available. For a start, it'll be cheaper (and somewhat environmentally more cheerful as, really, I don't need the physical CD) and, moreover, I'll get my sweaty little hands on the goods that much sooner. Giving up the magazine is a matter of saving a few bucks and, honestly, it just iced the BFA-subscription cake... Then again, I get such a simple, childish pleasure out of receiving that package every month. Hm. I'll have to think about it.

Re: the new Doctor Who comic from IDW, which the husband just brought home after his weekly trip to the comic book store.

Like the writing. Hate the art. Like, really, really hate it. It's too trendy and a bit too cartoony. Yes, really.

Cartoon-y I can accept, indeed, I expected it, but something in the overall style is summoning up everything I dislike about Peter Cheung, and that's not good. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Peter Cheung fan, but I also acknowledge that some aspects of his stylel also drive me bonkers. And ridiculously trendy lines on the clothing. Yes, yes, yes, I know that's going to happen in any comic book - one need only cast one's eyes over the husband's Justice League Europe collection for confirmation of that - but a certain amount of (for want of a better word) moderation would be appreciated.

Or maybe I'm just another fuddy-duddy complaining about how comics have gone to hell since Transmetropolitan and Preacher came to an end...

I will, however, repeat myself in that the writing (Gary Russel, at the mo') is spot-on. The story was a bit simple but as it's a first-issue kickoff sort of thing, I didn't expect anything more than that.

I suppose it would help if I knew the target demographic for the title. In all likelihood, I'm ten years and two tax brackets away from it...

Oh.

My.

God.

I did not just hear the Eighth Doctor say "You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment" in the third track of Max Warp, did I?

Yes, I bloody did. Jesus Motherf*cking Christ!

*ahem*

I'm fine. Really. Stellar, in fact. Please excuse me for a moment...

(this post brought to you by yet another of fangrrl's mad fandoms, namely House of Cards. I used to make my Vampire players watch it once a year to see how the game should be played.)
