Alright, you mad-on Doctor Who experts, I need something sourced for me, but I'm not even sure if it exists, or if it's canon, or what.

Some time ago, I heard that there was a story during which the Seventh Doctor realizes that he had, essentially, forced his previous incarnation to commit suicide - and had also stopped his Fifth life from horning in on matters, 'cause he's all compassionate and whatnot.

Does this tale exist? Or am I misrembering a dreadful fanfic? Or something in between?

I have my reasons for wanting to read this story, if it exists, as it might provide a useful kick-in-the-butt for a plot I'm working on that's chased its tail for far too long...

That sounds like it might be the NA novel The Room With No Doors, but I admit that my memory is very fuzzy on the subject.

The Room With No Doors (http://www.gallifreyone.com/review.php?id=na-59)

Hm, reading the third review, it sounds like that might be a distinct possibility - a shame the novel looks like quite the clanger, though... :(

I'm not sure Kate Orman's ever written what I'd consider a "clanger," but possibly the fact that I remember next to nothing about the book is an indication of something. Or possibly not, as I have kind of a bad memory, anyway. :)
