Wallowing in Whovian Fun.

A friend of mine wanted a crash-course introduction to Doctor Who and Torchwood so, in the past 48 hours, I've watched nine episodes of Doctor Who (new series) and three episodes of Torchwood.
My eyes are spinning just a tad - or that might have been the truly substantial amount of plonk put away during the viewing sessions. Things were definitely getting a bit MST3K-ish by the end of the evenings. Still, it was jolly good fun to have a serious wallow of the sort - peps up the ol' fannish blood, so to speak.
Next up, we're going to fill in the gaps on the Ninth Doctor (I gave him rather short shrift, I must admit, with only Rose and Dalek), do a bit more Torchwood and then... start in on the classic series. That's going to take a while!
Fortunately (I suppose) my collection of old school DVDs is a bit scanty so a couple of weekends will suffice for the overview, but at least I've got a couple of the really great stories and, hell, this might be the excuse I've been looking for to pick up a few other titles. The Key to Time box set is becoming increasingly irresistible and, really, I think they're going to take away my fandom membership card if I don't hurry up and buy a copy of The Pyramids of Mars. The fact that I don't have The Talons of Weng Chiang is probably reprehensible, too...

Date: 2008-03-17 02:35 am (UTC)If the latter, well, the book's okay, but not, y'know, remarkable. Indeed, I think I *might* have two copies of it (I think I got a copy in the huge job-lot of DW books I picked up a few months ago). I'll dig around and, if that's the case, I'll send you the dupe, if you like?
