Tomorrow, my don't steal stuff off the Internet will undergo some serious testing.

I know, I know. Not much point in try to adopt a certain policy if it's only going to collapse at the first (well, second) sign of strain. I've kept my promises re: Torchwood, but Doctor Who is an order of magnitude more severe, temptation-wise.

When will BBCA be showing S4?

(better yet, how quickly will Auntie Beeb be churning out the DVDs in the UK? Some things are worth the exchange rate...)

Scifi starts showing it in a couple of weeks, I think. I don't know anything about BBCA, though.

SciFi is fine. I've got that channel, too.

Thanks!

Dunno about BBCA, but S4 premieres on SFC April 18th. I think they're starting with "Voyaged of the Damned".

Keep in mind that the Sci-Fi version has some minor edits to add commercials (about 5 mins or so as memory serves).

Well, you see... this is what I do...

I'll wait for the US broadcast - I usually even watch it, too (gotta put eyeballs in front of those ads, although I do cheat by recording it on my DVR)

Then I pinch the BBC version off the internet - and pay much closer attention to it.

Still wrong, yes, but not AS wrong. I hope.

I sorta do it the other way... I'll grab it tomorrow and watch it then... Watch the SciFi Version as well (I'm not going to debate if I have an ethical responsibility to watch the ads or if I'm allowed to use the restroom), mostly because I want to know what was cut.

When the DVD comes out I'll pick that up as well.. although I'll keep the digitized version on the drive instead of going through the effort of ripping the DVD.

I'm of the opining from an _ethical_ perspective it's OK to download if you're still supporting the show (if you watch the TV version and the DVD version it's not a "lost sale"). From a _legal_ perspective the download is wrong either way.

If the BBC / SciFi made legal downloads available in a timely manner we wouldn't have this issue (I pay for Lost, BSG, etc because I want to support the show and it's easier to do it legally).

Also, as far as I'm concerned timeshifting (Via DVR, DVD or VHS) is never an issue.

OK.. I'll stop for now... If I don't let go expect a rant tonight on businesses trying to keep old business models instead of embracing the new.
