Sorry I've been so quiet of late. I've been stressed out beyond words (not really. I'm still babbling like a madwoman on my regular journal) and therefore not in the mood to catch up with Doctor Who. I know, not even The Doctor is luring me out of my Grotto of Grump, so things must be bad.

I haven't finished Torchwood yet, either.

Yep, really bad. Torrid thoughts about David Tennant and/or John Barrowman (read that as filthily as you like) used to be the best reason for waking up in the morning, dammit.

(Overshare? Sorry. See "stressed", above. My mouth/brain/keyboard filter broke down a while ago - either two weeks or six years, depending on who you ask)

However, go read this fabulous commentary on Torchwood 2x01. I found it via another pal's journal and I think it's worth mentioning here.

I'm hoping to crawl out of the grotto at least long enough to finish Torchwood in the next couple of days. If naught else, I know that some folks are dying for me to see a certain costume and, apparently, cave in to the notion of making it, along with every other Victoriana/Steampunk TW fan out there...

I'm resolved to watch the US-legal eps of DW before the end of the month. No way can I go to the local SF/F con in two weeks and not be informed. Well, that and my unread pile of DWM and TWM is getting significant. (Spoilers, aiyee!)

...and I have a new BFA to listen to, as well - The Haunting of Thomas Brewster by Jonathan Morris. Another thing to enjoy once I've fixed my mood.

This crummy mood thing really has been a pisser. When I'm working, it's all I can do to remember my job for all the damfool fic ideas that fill up my head. Commute time is filled with BFAs and assorted novels. The evenings, I'm cheerfully clearing out whatever the DVR has captured, or going through my DVDs. Unemployment, however, brings out the wretched slug in me.

I need a job to give me structure. It seems that when I have all the time in the world to watch the telly, read the books and listen to audios, I just don't want to. Probably because I feel guilty indulging in such, er, indulgences whilst almost broke. Never mind that I've got a pile of 60+ DW novels that I've long since paid for, going unread, oh no, I'd rather re-read some godawful David Eddings for the nth time. Seriously, smother me with a pillow if you see me clutching a copy of The Seeress of Kell again - what a load of dreck.

However, speaking of books to read - good books, I mean - I have a bunch of vintage/just-plain-old SF (and some non-SF) books for sale. Here are the details. Bargain basement stuff, I assure you!

That's enough from me, I suppose. More in a week or so.

Yeah, that was a good commentary (I'd mention it there, but I feel weird commenting in a stranger's LJ). Of course, Ianto is the only character I can really stomach in Torchwood, so go figure ;-) Other than Jack when he's actually being Jack & not being a cipher or background fodder. Oh & I've only gotten up to Gwen's wedding on TiVo.

PS: Every time you write "BFA," I think "Basic Faire Accent." What do you really mean?
