For all you long-distance US-based convention-going types: Southwest has just opened up their fares for Thanksgiving weekend.
At the mo, they're offering a supposedly-direct flight (from Oakland, shudder) to Midway for $434 r/t - and that's with pretty-decent timing, too - no catching the plane at midnight or 6AM.
*shakes fist at the economy and personal circumstances*
PS - for those who don't mind the aggro of flying in to O'Hare, it looks like the airlines have opened up some fares for that weekend/airport, also. A r/t from the Bay Area to O'Hare just dropped from nearly $600 to $500. United will do a direct SFO/OHD flight for $520.
Midway's offering a flight from San Jose to Midway (one stop) for less than SW - a hair over $400, with taxes. But that one stopover could be a pisser, travel-time wise.
EDIT: I just got a ping from one of my fare-watching thingummies. I really hate US Airways but Delta/US Air are down to $373 r/t to O'Hare, with a stopover in Vegas. GAH!!!
