...and another bloody thing.
Okay, so this is a bit from Storm Mine - y'know, the story that still has me throwing my hands up in the air, despite having listened to it three or four times. This time, I'm keeping the notion that Blaise has gone quite utterly crazy - a not unlikely theory, really, as it would at least explain the Blaise/Iago dialogues. However...
Blaise: How did I get into the desert? Why would I have come out here?
Iago: I can think of three possible explanations.
B: Go on.
I: You were brought out here against your will, by the same people who've tampered with your memory. That's the conspiracy theory, and it's not very likely.
B: I don't see the point.
I: Precisely... Second theory: the crew are lying to you. That's the one I prefer.
B: It's the simple one. And the third?
I: Everything you're doing and experiencing now is an hallucination. The product of random neurons discharging in a dying brain.
B: You're saying this is a dream?
I: You tell me.
And the writers have a proven fondness for Occam's razor, maybe that second theory is the answer. And it doesn't necessarily rule out Blaise being as nutty as the proverbial fruitcake, simultaneously. Definitely potential for fanficcery - although I'm sure someone's done it, already, and probably far better than I ever could.
