As some of you know, I've a bit of a uniform fetish. I didn't even know about this until my (at the time) boyfriend (now my husband) had to put on his USAF dress blues for an inspection day at work. Rawr! Anyways.

Peoples on the 'net should really warn a gal like me before posting these sorts of pictures.

Sure, sure, it's just a traffic warden's uniform, but that's good enough for me in this case.

*Happy place*

Once I found that pic, it pretty much sold me on playing [livejournal.com profile] jack_harkness_ (I use it in his profile). I always say that pic helps make the character! ;)

I can imagine him being like James Bond.

Except hotter and willing to sleep with any enemy. ANY enemy.

Yannow, if I wasn't already in lurve with the idea of James Bond being a Time Lord in DW continuity...

Why does one need a James Bond when we have CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS?

Fair point.

I just got a mental image of Jack looking the latest Bond up and down with a dismissive look and a mutter of "Tch. Amateur."

Although, honestly, 007 isn't a character I'd slash. He's waaaaay too het for me to find *any* subtext with the guy. And I've looked, believe me!

Still, it's a nice mental image, particularly when I'm utilizing my personal fave for should-have-been-Bond, Clive Owen. ;)

True, that.

Although I can imagine Clive Owen giving a more ambiguous degree of sexuality to Bond. Ohhh...

*thinks* Certainly more so than Sean Connery!

But, occasional diversions aside, 007 will always be a ladies' man, imho. ;)

Yes, best not to either own up to copyright infringement or land friends in hot water in a non-friends locked post is it, especially in such a litigious place as the US? :)

I had no idea David Tennant was seen as such a hearthrob. What are your thoughts on him in Season 2 of the new Doctor Who - or haven't you seen him in that yet?

I adore him as the Doctor, mainly because he's a combination of very physical acting and (let's face it) mugging, along with a strong inner core.
I'm an old-school Who fan (my age you know, grin...) and this concept of fancying The Doctor is a little bit alien really...but I'm dealing with it nicely.
And he does inhabit the role very well, which not all actors do in their first season.

I enjoyed him as the Doctor too, but I feel that now Rose has left the dynamnic of things will change. I too have watched plenty of old-school Who (wobbly sets, too many episodes set in underground caves, sci fi effects on a low budget) - but despite the occassional over-reliance on CGI I enjoyed the ones with Tennant in the most. However I am only 25, so it may be partly that the older series of Doctor Who seem dated in so many ways to me. They were also constrained a little at times by their budget.

This is from David Tennant's IMDB biography:-

"While attending Paisley Grammar School, he wrote an essay on how his greatest desire was to play Doctor Who on TV."

So, unlike other Doctor Whos he has wanted to play the role since a young age - which probably explains why he has so much fun doing so. However you're right - sex appeal wasn't something the earlier Doctors did, aloof absent-minded professor was more their character type.

Yup underground caves and slate quarries - have always meant to write a Who fic that included the following dialogue:
"Where are we Doctor?"
"Well I'm not entirely sure but at a guess I'd say we were in a disused slate quarry in Wales..."

I used to deny my total Who geekiness, but then had to admit it when I saw "Rose " and went "oooh Nestene Conciousness" while everyone else around me went "WHAT?"

Yeah well many people have commented on the acting abilities of Billie Piper. However I trump your Who geekiness with managing to get a Doctor Who quote from my blog in a national newspaper. :) The original Nestene Conciousness is before my time - there are vast swathes of old/classic Doctor Who I haven't seen (or have seen and forgotten).

I thought you were comparing Rose's wooden style of acting to the Nestene Conciousness. *grins* Figured out you meant the episode Rose and not the character though.
