Tennant to Depart Doctor Who After 2009 'Season' Airs.

Which was pretty much how the smart money was calling it. Moffat will be taking over as showrunner and it's a logical time to change Doctors.

I just hope the young 'uns in the fandom don't indulge in the orgy of wailing and hair-pulling they did last time around. The character changes, get used to it.

Why, yes, I'm wearing the cranky pants today...

and as per my usual for the last bunch of Doctors I have had my
"NOOOO!" Moment and I have moved on.

I'm with you regarding the younger fans.

It will NEVER happen, as he's far too similar to Tennant, but Jack Davenport would make me so fracking happy.

Bill Nighy, though...

DId you hear that they actually offered the role to Hugh Grant before Eccleston, but he turned it down, thinking it wouldn't be great, and then after the 2005 series, said he should have taken it?
