I'm back from Chicago TARDIS (barely, but that's a long story) and I had an absolute blast. The full-blown report might have to wait a couple of days (along with the pix) but the bullet points are:
- DW fans continue to prove that they can be the nicest, most fun-loving bunch of folks in fandom.
- The masquerade was a blast, both in terms of the show itself and how beautifully well the judging when (four judges, 14 entries, and we were still done within 45 minutes)
- No-one threw anything at me at the Ethics of Downloading panel (yay!)
- Elisabeth Sladen is on my list of folks I won't hear a word against, for various reasons, but mostly because she is an absolute sweetheart when interacting with the wee young fans.
- The not-a-con-suite saved my life and my sanity. All hail the Friends' Cafe.
- The stories about India Fisher being a sweetheart? They're all true. And she has fabulous taste in shoes.
- I am absolutely incapable of not looking like a big ol' dork when being photographed in the vicinity of anyone even vaguely well-known.
- Not only is Gallifrey 2009 going to rock, but so is 2010. Unfortunately, I can't say why.
- On a note related to the above, Shaun Lyon continues to rock my socks.
- Overall, I am very, very easily amused. Especially when given the opportunity to run around in the snow at 1AM...
- I will not volunteer for staff next year, I will not volunteer for staff next year. If I want to show support for the event, I will do so as an attendee.
- (Nor will I volunteer for that many panels ever again. They were fun but it was just too much of a good thing)
- You can never, ever manage to do everything you want to at a convention. But you can certainly try!
