A good night's sleep (and how!) has restored some of my equilibirum.

More to the point, the chucked-out idea has been retrieved from the waste-bin, smoothed out a bit and is being re-examined. I think there could be a fun little 15 minute story in there, after all. Possibly.

But I know my limits. I need a collaborator - someone to bounce ideas back-and-forth with, to bring me back down to earth when I go bonkers and to help me recognize the wrong tree when I start barking up it, and vice-versa of course.

The rumpled-up idea is making squeaky noises at me about being a Eighth Doctor story, although I can't make up my mind if it's Charly or Lucie in tow - stop laughing!

I've got a setting, a conflict and a general idea of how it'll all resolve, but it's frightfully bland at the moment. Hence the need for collaboration. I work a lot better with a co-conspirator - as my past larp writing has proven.

If you're interested, I've a couple of cavaeats:
- Be familiar with Doctor Who in general, and the post-TVM story of the Eighth Doctor in particular.
- Be in the San Francisco bay area. I much prefer face-to-face talk for such projects, rather than email or even the phone. I'll provide the sugar water/coffee beans of choice and can meet at a mutually agreeable location.

(I'll be reposting this over on the G1 forums, later today...)

So do I!

But I've had too many instances of meaning being completely buggered via email, so...

and the energy is just so much better, f-2-f. If I can't swing it, though... you'll be the first person I call. So get your Skype sorted, woman! ;)

Given your mad Eight luf, I'll relax the requirement for you, if you don't mind casting your eyes over what is, at the moment a very-much-unfinished treatment.

Deciding to take a story that, initially, did not involve the Doctor *at all* and making it a Doctor story has thrown a few wrenches in what was previously a very simple story...

PS - have realized that if the nascent idea becomes and Eight/Lucie story in San Francisco, I *have* to refer the TVM... *somewhere*

D'oh!!

Perhaps make a point of showing how my little project would actually be filmed in San Francisco... ;)

Considering how the TVM was filmed in Vancouver, if you can get in some actual San Francisco visual in-jokes, I approve!

Well, I was thinking that somewhere, somehow, at least 2 significant SF landmarks would have to be included.

So far, the candidates are Union Square and the Presidio.

If you ever need an idea-bouncer, feel free to put the kettle on and nab me by the sleeve for a chinwag.

General plot-chewings are one thing (and I might well take you up on that)

The other issue is that I really need someone who's up on the Eight/Lucie dynamic, for the fine tuning/making sure the story fits them, y'know?

If I ever manage to complete the treatment (don't hold your breath) I'll share it with you.

The premise is pretty much nailed down, but the latter half of it is squirming on it. It's just a matter of deciding if I want to do something very short and simple - say, about 8 minutes, if that - or complicate it a little but face a final running time of maybe 30 minutes, with all the increased demands on production that would require...

I'm gonna let the story ideas percolate over a couple of days and see what I can get done, if anything.

You make me want to go out and buy order all the Eighth Doctor audios, so I can offer thoughts (haha, like I could afford them all. But I would be open to suggestions for buying one or two).

Maybe aim for 8 minutes, but leave it a little open ended so that if you end up with the resources, you can film the rest and turn it into 30 minutes?
