Friday Fluff

DALEK KEYBOARDS ARE SUPERIOR TO HUMAN KEYBOARDS. FOR A START, THEY HAVE ONLY ONE KEY.
Meanwhile...
- Fans in the FiDi-ish area of San Francisco, feel free to join me and
cmdrsuzdal for an end-of-the-week drink at the Thirsty Bear (661 Howard St.), 5PM until we get bored. As I won't be there 'til 6 or so, I suspect I'll be hanging out 'til 7ish before shifting off home.
cmdrsuzdal describes it as "FiDi Fandom Friday" and as soon as I can think of a synonym for "bevvies" that begins with an F, I'm sure that'll be tacked on the end, too. We're not anticipating more than, oh, the two of us, so if you want to join in, let me know, 'cos if the group goes over a certain size, I'll call the place and ask about 'reserving' a couple of the standup tables, if possible.
- I've been doing some hard thinking about Doctor Who and The Locusts Of Time and I don't think it's feasible for me to try shooting it, myself. More than anything, the casting issue is a stinker - as in finding a local one. Crew, I've got. An Eight who can act his way out of a paper bag? Not so much. I'm going to put out one more call on the blogosphere about it but I'm not optimistic. If I can't do it myself, I'll release it into the wild for whoever thinks they can manage it - although re-writing will be inevitable. Sigh.
- Meanwhile, I have a few other ideas tinkling around in my brain - an audio script, this time - but I've a question to ask you lot, 'cos you know far more about the entire body of work than I do: DW stories set during the Gold Rush in San Francisco - done before or not? There's not a few stories set in the mid-19th century in England, natch, and there's the pisstake, Minuet in Hell, but I'm damned if I can remember any story occurring in SF, during the mid-19th century. Am I right?
Bah, must pretend to work, now.

Date: 2009-04-03 06:48 pm (UTC)I simply don't have the money to make a decent - or even half-assed replica of Eight.
A sort-of fallback would be to borrow someone's rig, if they would loan it out (big if!) but then I'm stuck trying to cast to someone roughly that person's size! D'oh!

Date: 2009-04-04 12:52 am (UTC)Failing that, the Original Doctor approach is often a good one...

Date: 2009-04-03 06:37 pm (UTC)I'm actually surprised and a little sad to see that barely anything in the show, comics, novels OR audios seems to have been set here :(

I might have an idea or two to bounce off ya at Thirsty Bear tonight, if you're willing to listen? ;)
(btw, I won't be there before 5:30, and that's assuming I can slope offa work at 4:45...)
