Pass The Crow...
Nov. 6th, 2007 11:26 pmWell, hell...
I think I'm going to have to apologize to Chris Boucher for, erm, at least half of the nasty things I've said about him. *looks back at journal* Okay, maybe three-quarters...
Why?
Match of the Day, that's why.
I'm only halfway through the book, but it's clear that not only does Mr. Boucher dig the Leela/Fourth Doctor relationship, but he gets it - and he gets Leela, too, in a way that I haven't seen any other writer adequately capture, yet. Pre-industrial doesn't equate to stupid, nor does 'animal cunning' cover what's going on in the character's head. Leela is smart, just in what we'd consider an unconventional way. She's different, but not dumb. Boucher gets that. Yay!
More when I've actually, y'know, finished the book
And, oh yeah, I'm still trying with Paul Leonard's Genocide. The Perfect Pretty Pony People are still getting under my skin, darnit...
PS. The filthy-fic muses can leave me alone any time. You're not helping with the omgEDAmarathonofdoooooom y'know. I need to be reading, not scrawling down ideas for, er, well, never mind what the ideas are about... *blush*
