Well, hell...

I think I'm going to have to apologize to Chris Boucher for, erm, at least half of the nasty things I've said about him. *looks back at journal* Okay, maybe three-quarters...

Why?

Match of the Day, that's why.

I'm only halfway through the book, but it's clear that not only does Mr. Boucher dig the Leela/Fourth Doctor relationship, but he gets it - and he gets Leela, too, in a way that I haven't seen any other writer adequately capture, yet. Pre-industrial doesn't equate to stupid, nor does 'animal cunning' cover what's going on in the character's head. Leela is smart, just in what we'd consider an unconventional way. She's different, but not dumb. Boucher gets that. Yay!

More when I've actually, y'know, finished the book

And, oh yeah, I'm still trying with Paul Leonard's Genocide. The Perfect Pretty Pony People are still getting under my skin, darnit...

PS. The filthy-fic muses can leave me alone any time. You're not helping with the omgEDAmarathonofdoooooom y'know. I need to be reading, not scrawling down ideas for, er, well, never mind what the ideas are about... *blush*

I like Chris Boucher, the same way I like whisky (ie once you drink enough of it you lose all the feeling in your nose... no, no, that's not right). He does good "big, dumb object" stories, but his characterisation has been pretty weak in the past. I never did get around to reading Match of the Day. Genocide came very close to defeating me though.

I must admit, I'm enjoying 'Match of the Day' more than I expected. It's no book for the ages, or anything, but a good fun read and that's really all I want out of a Doctor Who novel. ;)

And 'Genocide' has taken to lurking on a nearby table whilst I sew. I'm going to have to cave in and finish it sometime, darnit... (I could stand it if it wasn't for the Perfect Pretty Pony People...)

filthy fic muses

How about a post about the filthy fice muses? As long as they're not along the lines of - Doctor Ten lands on a planet where all the men have died out. Grabbing him as soon as he sets foot outside the Tardis, groups of women start pulling each other's hair out over who he'll be staying with.

Or....

Doctor Ten shows Rose Tyler a locked room in the Tardis she hasn't seen before. The walls are covered with whips, manacles and the like. In the center is a large four poster bed. Rose wonders what she's let herself in for and how many other companions have been invited into this.

I'm sure you could do better than those!

I'm intrigued now - if it's an idea that made you blush I wonder what it was...

It's more blushing at the fact that far too much of my brain-time has been taken up with fairly pointless notions, than the content itself (which is nothing terribly remarkable, else I would have ficc'd it by now). I've got lots of other things to take up my brain's processing time, why on earth aren't I thinking about them? :)

Because it's in our genes to think that way?
