Hmm.

I could buy all the Torchwood DVDs now¹ for, hrm, 45 Pounds plus shipping. Call it a hair over $100. Or I could wait until July for the Big Box Set. Thing is, will it be any cheaper to wait?

And before anyone asks, yes, I have a region-free DVD player. Picking up BBC DVDs that aren't distributed in the US was my primary reason for getting it. Getting stuff a few months ahead of US distribution was a secondary reason. I must admit, if I'd know that Series 2 of DW was going to hit the shelves in the US as early as last week, I might have held off buying it. Oh well. I like the UK packaging better. :)

¹ - late March, actually, but they're offering a nice price on the discs if order now.

What's the difference in the DVD packaging for DW series 2? I ordered the American version - hope I'm not going to be sorry! Like you, I have my system set up for either Region 1 or Region 2, but usually end up buying Region 1 because it's cheaper - if only with regard to postage.

I've no idea if the packaging is different and, more to the point, I had no idea it was available for order in the US already. Wow.
