Did a bit more thinking about Liberator as I battled insomnia, last night.
The eps continues to grow on me. Why?
- There's a visible effort to not marginalize Jenna. Yay!
- Tell me things aren't going to go sour (again) 'twixt Gan and Vila. Suuuure, Vila did the right thing by Gan but that was apparently by instinct, rather than by deliberate design as per marooning him, earlier. This also means that Gan isn't being shoved to the sidelines, either (although he's hardly in the limelight, granted. See previous entries re: challenges of an ensemble cast)
- The Blake/Avon conflict has been set-up nicely. Let's see how it unfolds, shall we?
- The Liberator, itself, is still an unknown quantity, even with Zen (supposedly) subordinate to the humans on board. Blake can tell himself that the ship is a part of the crew all he likes - dear, sweet, democratically-minded idiot that he is - but it's clearly still got a mind of its own and the important questions are, as yet, unanswered. Vila's perception of the ship seems a lot more spot-on to me. Extra credit for the 'fleshy' bunks bit, btw. Brr!
- And there's no sign of a teleporter anywhere in sight, yay! No teleporter, means no-one being stuck 'running' the teleporter, means no character being shoved to the sidelines for half of the story. This makes me a happy fangrrl.
On a much sillier note, I've decided that I'll listen to Colin Salmon read the phone book. Daniela Nardini too, for that matter. But that's just me being silly, as fans are wont to be from time to time.
God help me, I've got a fic idea nibbling at my brain. Unfortunately, it involves Mezzin, which means it might be just a wee bit difficult to shoehorn into continuity... Why do I always get interested in the doomed characters?
