A bowtie, huh?

(If you're dying to know, here's a picture - tis posted by the Beeb, so I guess it's official)

Not my usual cup of tea, but I could learn to like it.

In general, though, I'm all for the geeky-professor look. It's a little anachronistic, but not painfully so - it looks like he's wearing some well-washed (black) jeans with the tweedy jacket and they offset each other quite well.

I wonder if those boots are a part of the costume, too? Kinda hope so, to be honest.

Yeah, I think I could learn to like it.

PS. Karen/Amy still looks twelve. A very cute and adorable twelve, but twelve. Yes, I know I'm being bloody-minded. I will also concede that her hair is gorgeous.

The way the costume came together in my head is that the character doesn't quite realize that it's not entirely age-appropriate for him. He's 800-something years old and newly regenerated. Who's to say he didn't quite notice that he's dressed aptly for someone twice his (apparent) age?

And I get a bit of 'unhip professor trying desperately to be not so unhip' - hence the boots and the jeans with the tweed.

re: Karen... well... one could make a host of speculations, but one won't. However, I'm warming up to her as it occurs to me that if, say, Donna ended up running around with an (apparently) 20something Time Lord, she'd slap his face clean off his head the first time he went off on an (inevitable, if inadvertant) patronizing lecture.
