A bowtie, huh?

(If you're dying to know, here's a picture - tis posted by the Beeb, so I guess it's official)

Not my usual cup of tea, but I could learn to like it.

In general, though, I'm all for the geeky-professor look. It's a little anachronistic, but not painfully so - it looks like he's wearing some well-washed (black) jeans with the tweedy jacket and they offset each other quite well.

I wonder if those boots are a part of the costume, too? Kinda hope so, to be honest.

Yeah, I think I could learn to like it.

PS. Karen/Amy still looks twelve. A very cute and adorable twelve, but twelve. Yes, I know I'm being bloody-minded. I will also concede that her hair is gorgeous.

The costume is growing on me. I was hooing for a grab-you-at-galnce silouette like Pertwee and Baker. I always vote for a good frock but I guess that's the cliche nowadays- maybe Doctor 12 will bring that back. Still it has nice little nods in it to Two, Four, Seven and Nine and in arrangement, Ten.

Nailing those fabrics once we get even better close ups will be tricky - especially the shirt. I'm more curious how he gets the clothes... does he do a TARDIS wardrobe hunt or will he get them on the go- stealing or getting hand me downs from a college professor/student???

I've a coworker who's into the Western/cowboy thing and he backs up my initial hunch that Smith's shirt is very much like a vintage-style C&W type shirt - at least based on the pattern and what we can see of the cut.

I've seen that fabric pattern before (the closely-printed S-curve) on shirts if not on the bolt, and whilst I'm not sure if I could find fabric to match, I wouldn't be surprised if some dedicated hunting around vintage e-tailers might find some very-close matches.

I don't know enough about tweed to know what - if anything - is distinctive about the fabric in the jacket...

And, yeah, I'm curious as to the story of that costume's acquisition, too! ;)
