Right then, where to begin?

[livejournal.com profile] jack_harkness_ has decided he's got a real problem with [livejournal.com profile] dr_owen_harper carrying on with an OC that I shamelessly threw him at him. What's annoying me is that I can't figure out why Jack's irritated about it. Fine, fine, so she scattered a couple of listening devices around Owen's flat and in his car. They were found pretty quickly... And Jack can't be jealous - of either Owen or Andrea. I think it's virtually impossible for him to be jealous, particularly about something so bloody shallow - unless we, y'know, go with angsty!can'thavearelationship!Jack, which is a flavor of Jack I don't particularly like, so I doubt I'll ever call on it. I mean, yes security concerns and yes Andrea's not the sort of person you'd bring home to dad (unless your father was something out of one of Almodovar's odder films), but really, that's none of Jack's bloody business. So why he's grumbling about it, I don't know. *ponders and prods characters with sticks*

Shortly after my whine earlier today about Jack not being terribly articulate whilst he's simultaneously grumbling about the lack of luv, toppy!Ianto wandered back on to the scene. He's got some ideas, ranging from merely implausible to downright chilling (it's always the quiet ones) and whereas some of them are quite - ahem - distracting, I simply don't think I could do them justice. I'm just not a good enough writer. However, that doesn't stop me wishing like hell I could a) do justice to said mental noodlings b) get 'em into rpg!Jack's continuity because, damn, it's been quiet over there, lately.

I was rummaging through my pen-and-ink journal over lunch, trying to get some thoughts going re: possible RP with a person who writes a rather good Owen, (more on that in another entry, perhaps, for Ideas Are Brewing), and that, of course, woke up a whole bunch of snoozing plotbunnies. Mostly the pervy ones because it's spring and my hormones are surging. Y'all know how it is.

Ianto's pissed off because Jack is still, by and large, 'playing along' with the whole subbie thing and, if naught else, that pisses off Ianto's not-so-inner subbie (and that's a fic that's been waiting for months to go online, btw) and it, y'know, implies a cheapening of that aspect of him. So, Ianto wants to teach Jack about the honest-to-goodness1 fun that is submission. How does a person do that? By rewarding good service, of course. Which leads me right to What sort of service (so to speak) does Ianto really want from Jack? and ow, who put that brick wall there?

Dark-and-unpleasant Ianto has a few ideas, because he hasn't quite forgiven Jack for what happened to Lisa. I'll cheerfully lift what I can from that source, but that has to be done very carefully, as whereas half the fun of fictional BDSM is that one doesn't have to be quite as careful about Safe Play as one does in real life, one is also aware that impressionable folk may stumble across this and if there's one area where I don't want to be a bad influence, it's this. Pushing/breaking boundaries is daaaangerous territory to be treading, never mind some of the other ideas that dark-and-unpleasant Ianto has piped up with - let's just say that his interest in rape fantasy is about the nicest of them.

Back to the service thing... Hm. Hmm... Alas, my own rather limited experience with this dynamic has me rather scritching my head for good ideas. Oh, I have a bunch of ideas, but whether or not they're plausible, manageable and generally good is another matter entirely.

(Although this does remind me that I haven't written the Jack-as-furniture bit yet, and I really should. I think that's a good-and-plausible one. I just don't know where it's going, beyond a rather delicious setup. One doesn't need much more than that setup, granted, but there must be something.)

You know what this means, right? I'll just have to go read pron online in the hopes of finding ideas. Oh dearie, dearie me, what a chore... Feel free to leave recs. ;)

Wow, who needs soap operas when we've got the characters in your head. Perhaps Jack is concerned about Owen dating Andrea being a security concern. Have you read/listened to Another Life?

If Jack needs an agony aunt, [livejournal.com profile] peskyjournalist is available and willing. :)

You should hear them when they really get noisy. No wonder I talk ICly in my sleep, sometimes. (Yes, really)

*chortle* Jack likes Sarah and all, but I don't think he's ready to open up to her about As The Hub Turns, just yet. ;)

PS. No, I haven't read "Another Life". Is it any good?

(And oh HELL YES is Jack concerned about Andrea as a security risk. But he's also smart enough to realize that telling Owen not to do something is a surefire way to get him to dig in his heels and do it, regardless. I suppose I could take the boring way out and have Jack call Andrea's boss... She respects him (ie: is scared witless). But where's the fun in a resolution like that? :)

Wha...?

Buh...?

LINK! I need a link, woman!

(meanwhile, I've got Andrea and Jack talking to each other but, dammit, they're going around in little circles. I need a plotgrenade.)

I got the file and started listening on the way to work. I admit, Barrowman's not the *best* reader, but it's still bearable to listen to.

And the plot *already* (20 minutes in) seems to be better than half of the eps from the first season. I forget, is Anghelides writing anything for season 2?

(incidentally, I think Anghelides is a luv and am probably biased in his favor, so maybe the story really stinks. Who knows? :))

He isn't the best reader, I agree. DT did a better job with the DW books, the plot of one of which was worse then Another Life.

JB does get better as you go along.

Would that be "The Stone Rose"?

I DL'd that, listened to the first part and walked away. I mean, I *heart* Tennant's voice and even that couldn't save it...

YES! And the plot just gets crazier the longer you listen. I made it through the whole thing only just. Why that book was published I'll never know.

PS. Speaking of certain journalists, I have an idea brewing in my noggin involving me, thee and a few other free-floating muses out there. More when I get out of my seven hours of meetings...
